Bahrain is well known for its friendly welcome
to visitors from all over the world. It is the region's favourite
destination with over 3 million tourists visiting every year.
The visitor count has soared in recent years by a rapid increase
in visitors from Europe and the Far East. Bahrain is well-connected
to the world with more than 50 airlines operating through Bahrain
International Airport. The frequency of flights is excellent
for onward connections be it anywhere in the Middle East of
the World. By road, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is just 27 kilometres
away from Bahrain across the King Fahad Causeway. In a gesture
to improve ties between Bahrain and Qatar, a "Friendship
Bridge" is under construction, and is expected to be completed
by 2005.
